Why I'm going to start writing on Substack
Welcome to my substack! I have opinions! For the past couple of years I’ve used Twitter as a means of getting those opinions out there, which has been really enriching! I’ve had so many interesting and unique conversations about how the world works thanks to some really bright folks on Twitter.
Microblogging can be really limiting, though, especially for going in depth on a topic I care about. After leaving school to enter the workforce, my writing muscle hasn’t had much exercise, so I think this can be a great way for me to get back in shape, so to speak. My goal is to contribute at least once a week, even if it’s drivel, and even if nobody reads it. Having my thoughts an opinions organized and laid out in detail is enough of a reward to stick to the habit.
What will I write about? Pretty much whatever is on my mind, which is constantly changing. These days I’m into urban economics(especially land use policy and transportation), technology, public policy, and just generally how societies organize themselves. Some posts will be me dumping my thoughts onto a page, others will be more organized and well researched. Expect plenty of data, graphs and charts no matter the topic.
Feel free to share any tips on blogging/writing if you have any. I’m still very new to writing in the context of a blog online.
I’m excited to see where this goes. There is so much to learn about our amazing world, and I hope I can share what I learn with as many people as I can.
